Sindh govt extends Rangers' special powers for 90 days

The Rangers had been given powers under Section-5 of the Anti Terrorism Act, 1997.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government has extended the special powers of the Rangers in all across the province including Karachi for 90 days, reported Dunya News on Tuesday.

According to notification issued by Sindh Home Department, the grant of extension to the special authority to the Rangers was given from January 6 and will expire on April 4.

The Rangers had been given powers under Section-5 of the Anti Terrorism Act, 1997 according to which Rangers were authorised to conduct a raid and arrest accused.
